Jake Schoeneberger Shares Thoughts on She-Hulk – September 23, 2022
Every episode of She-Hulk provides fun and thought-provoking scenes. It’s great to see a Marvel show not take itself quite so seriously, definitely has Jacob Schoeneberger enjoying its sense of personality and irreverence.
With that in mind, here are some random observations Jacob Schoeneberger has on the show.
All the Jake Schoeneberger Random Opinions about She-Hulk (Season 1, Episode 6)
*This will contain spoilers for anyone who hasn’t watched the show yet.*
The sixth episode begins with Jen opening a box that sprays confetti in her face. Looks like she’ll be a bridesmaid in her friend Lulu’s wedding. Lulu is an old friend from high school who Jen assumes felt obligated to ask her to be a bridesmaid.
But when she shows up to the rehearsal dinner as She-Hulk, Lulu is not happy with her. Gotta say, Jake Schoeneberger kind of agrees with Lulu on this one. Lulu is friends with Jen, not She-Hulk. There’s no need to be Hulk for a wedding. She’s just taking attention away from the bride. And after Lulu asks for her to be just Jen at the wedding, we’re greeted to the opening titles calling her Just Jen: Attorney at Law. Hilarious!
While Jen is away at the wedding, Nikki works with Mallory on a divorce case. The client, Mr. Immortal, can’t die (hence the name and all). So instead of telling his wife he wants a divorce, he walked into traffic and technically died. But he’s come back to life. Now, when Mallory and Nikki admonish him for such reprehensible behavior, he chooses to jump out of the window to get out of the conversation. Handy trick, but creepy.
At the dinner, Lulu patronizes Jen about not having a boyfriend, despite the fact that Jen is head of a division in a major law firm and also now has superpowers. And then who should show up but Titania because she’s dating a friend of the groom. Jacob Schoeneberger can smell trouble a mile away on this one.
But the good news is a seemingly cool guy named Josh strikes up a conversation with Jen when she heads outside to avoid Titania. It’s a wedding, Jen deserves to meet a nice guy for some fun. But then Lulu ruins the fun by making Jen clean up dishes and glasses. Spoilsport!
Back at the firm, it turns out that Mr. Immortal is actually divorcing several ex-spouses who all have grievances against him for dying and disappearing out of their lives. This guy gives a whole new meaning to the term “ghosting.” Mallory tells Immortal she’ll get him the best deal under the circumstances, but after creating several identities and faking his death numerous times he’s lucky not to be facing criminal charges.
The bridesmaids are talking before Jen arrives and they make it sound like the only reason Jen is even a bridesmaid is because she’ll have to do all the dirty work. Then they make Jen iron the groomsmen’s shirts. Jake Schoeneberger smells a rat. Jen needs to ditch this trainwreck of a wedding.
Nikki does some smooth lawyering and crazy cool negotiating by coming up with specific terms to match the demands of each of Immortal’s ex-spouses. Now Mallory sees how awesome Nikki is, but hold up, she better not try to steal her away from Jen.
Jen rocks the cash bar at the wedding and has fun during the reception. She and Josh hit it off pretty well, and he tells her he thinks Jen is pretty great, not just She-Hulk. That’s what we’ve all been waiting for someone to say to her! But unfortunately, she drank a bit too much and has to go outside to hurl.
That’s when Titania punches her and she flies about 50 feet. It’s about time Titania showed these powers of hers again. But Jacob Schoeneberger is thinking you’re in big trouble now, Titania. Jen refuses to turn to She-Hulk, so Titania has to basically beg her. Well, careful what you wish for because Jen goes Hulk and beats the snot out of Titania. Then Lulu enters but instead of being mad gives She-Hulk a big hug. Man, I don’t know what to make of this wedding. So weird.
After the divorce proceedings, Mallory and Nikki head to a creepy troll website called Intelligencia and find that there’s a whole section hating on She-Hulk. There are even death threats. Mallory tells Nikki not to tell Jen about it because it would only mess with her head knowing it’s out there, but Nikki leaves a message on Jen’s phone telling her all about it.
Meanwhile Jen is sharing fries with Josh after the wedding, and they seem to be continuing to hit it off well. But the episode ends when we see the inside of a high-tech lab that is monitoring Jen’s actions. And they have some sort of serum in a huge hypodermic needle, and Jake Schoeneberger thinks this can’t be a good sign. They may have figured out how to pierce her Hulk skin.
The Jake Schoeneberger Final Thought on She-Hulk
This episode was fun and off the wall. But that ending definitely reminded us that there’s a lot at stake for Jen. She can’t ignore that her Hulk blood is still a weapon that some baddies might just want to get their hands on. Jacob Schoeneberger would bet the rent that there’s a twist coming soon.
